Maternity reflexology
I have a very keen interest in maternity reflexology; that is the study of the benefits of reflexology on clients with fertility issues, during pregnancy and post pregnancy.
It's not a cure-all by any means, but studies show reflexology can have a dramatic effect for each of these stages of birth, both for the mother and the baby.
Using the Suzanne Enzer method of treatment (world reknowned in the subject of maternity reflexology), I am passionate about working with a woman before and throughout her pregnancy, and after giving birth.
Before conception, there are techniques that can be used to relax the client, balance her hormones and give an energy boost to the parts of the body that need it. It is also suitable for men.
Some couples are told there is no medical reason why they can't conceive. Reflexology in both sexes can calm and allow the client to feel a deep relaxation that can ease the worry of fertility issues and let nature work its magic.
During pregnancy, treatments are recommended from week 12 of pregnancy, right up until the due date. Some women find immense comfort in reflexology even during labour. I know women who have wanted their reflexologist in the delivery room over their husband!
Some of the conditions reflexology can ease during this time are:
- Anxiety and worry
- Constipation
- Heartburn and indigestion
- Fatigue
- Morning Sickness
- Backache
Post pregnancy, reflexology can help calm and ease an anxious mother and balance their hormones and energy levels. Studies have shown that regular treatments can also reduce the effects of post natal depression.
Maternity reflexology is very safe and cannot harm your baby. It complements the most natural thing on earth: childbearing!
The best effects come from a regular course of treatments. These can be designed to fit in around your busy life. Mobile reflexology works very well for this purpose!
